Passionate About Your Recovery
The therapists and staff at Fairhaven Treatment Center are committed to delivering personalized care and treatment to help you reclaim a life of joy and develop the tools necessary for a lifetime of recovery.
An eating disorder is a chronic and complex condition. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma and attachment disorder, or a history of addiction or chemical dependency are common co-occurring conditions of an eating disorder. Fairhaven Treatment Center specializes in treating eating disorders and the trauma and attachment disorder using evidence-based treatment approaches. At Fairhaven, we are also skilled at identifying and treating anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and substance use disorder that often contribute to the complexity of the eating disorder.
Our clients come to Fairhaven for a residential eating disorders treatment experience that goes beyond symptom control. We provide a residential and outpatient treatment experience designed to help clients establish a healthy relationship with food and at the same time, compassionately approach the anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, attachment disorder, and co-occurring addictions and substance use disorders to help our clients find their path to complete recovery.
We treat our clients like the unique and inspiring individuals they are, instead of a condition or illness. Our staff is here to help every step of the way, no matter where you are in the recovery process.

Teri McCann, PhD, CEDS is the founder and executive clinical director of Fairhaven. She earned a Doctorate of Philosophy at Kansas State University. She is a Licensed Psychologist, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. In addition to holding a Mental Health Service Provider designation, she has demonstrated competency in the areas of Social-Personality Psychology and Statistics and Measurement. Early in her career, while working with older adolescents and young adults as an intern at a college counseling center, Dr. McCann became aware of the epidemic nature of eating disorders and the complexity of their origin. While a graduate student and adjunct professor, she worked on Foodways, a project that looked at the social and environmental influences on food choices. Her research evaluated how psychosocial and developmental factors affect children’s food choices and how the early cognitions could lead to disordered eating. Dr. McCann’s work with patients with eating disorders in Memphis began in 2003. Over time, she became clinical director for an intensive outpatient facility specializing in the treatment of adolescent and adult women with eating disorders. The needs of her patients inspired Dr. McCann to open Fairhaven Treatment Center for clinical care of this complicated population. “I consider facilitating recovery from eating disorders my life’s work. Effectively working with eating disorders requires a holistic approach to health and healing and a special understanding of the individuals that suffer from them. My goal is to offer a unique and holistic environment that allows self-discovery and promotes personal healing in an atmosphere of safety and tranquility.” -

“I cant imagine a more dedicated treatment team than the one at Fairhaven. Each member is 100% invested in what they do, and while there you can definitely feel that. I never truly believed that complete healing from an eating disorder was possible until I received treatment at Fairhaven.”
“Fairhaven has been just what I needed… You helped me survive all of this…my Fairhaven time has made it possible for me to successfully return to work…I don’t know how to thank you for all that.”
“Your center, therapies, love, and treatment team gave me my life back.”
“With an incredibly knowledgeable dietitian, as well as amazing groups and individual therapists, the treatment team at Fairhaven allows for residents to feel completely supported in every area of recovery.”
“I cannot thank you guys enough. I miss everyone. I wish everyone encouragement to be well and the courage to let go and let healing pursue them. Just wanted to share this with you. Thank you.”
“No matter how hard I try, there is no way to express the magnitude of my gratefulness for your vision, determination, talent, love, and sacrifice in creating and running this life saving place.”
“I never had or can remember having “self-energy”, I never felt unconditionally loved. What a gift this is! The gift of inner peace. The gift of coping skills. Your efforts, this place made it possible.”
The following poem was written by a client in thanks to Fairhaven’s Founder, Dr. Teri McCann, and treatment team:
Evolution of a Second Act
Hours and hours spent learning to heal
Practicing honing building your skill
Unwavering values
Riches to share
All with a vision of your way to care
Your talent and toil brought you this path
An opportunity to share your craft
Ethics standards a code you surpassed
New methods combined with foundations of past
And so you set forth on a healing venue
The deposits you made have brought this to you
Hope offered
Dreams fulfilled
Fragile lives to rebuild
A fortune you offer for others to glean
For those who come will Truly be seen
